WEYBURN - One of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division's top administrators is moving onto a new role.

The division's board opened its June 21 business meeting by announcing that Gord Husband, one of the two deputy directors of education, is leaving the administration fold to take the director of education portfolio in the Prairie Valley School Division. He has been the deputy director of human resources and infrastructure for Cornerstone.

Husband, a former teacher and principal in Estevan, has served district and regional boards in an administrative capacity in southeast Saskatchewan for more than 20 years.

He arrived in Estevan in the summer of 1999. His first two years were spent at the Estevan Junior High, where he taught physical education, health and science. In the fall of 2001, Husband became the vice-principal at Hillside School, and was the principal of Hillcrest from August 2002 to June 2006. His wife Susan was the principal of Westview School, also in Estevan.

Then he served as the vice-principal of Swift Current Comprehensive High School, and has been working as a superintendent for South East Cornerstone since 2010.

The Cornerstone board wished him well on his future endeavours.

Many of Prairie Valley's 39 schools are in close proximity to Regina, but it has schools as far east as Whitewood, as far southeast as Kennedy and Kipling, and schools at least an hour north of Regina.
