ESTEVAN - A GoFundMe campaign is underway for Estevan’s Darrel Tessier, who was seriously injured in a collision.

Tessier and his wife Leigh-Ann were travelling on a motorcycle in northwest North Dakota on Sunday when they were struck by a pickup truck. The Tessiers were wearing helmets when the accident occurred. Charges are pending against the driver of the pick-up truck.

“Beautiful Leigh-Ann lost her life and will be forever loved and terribly missed by many. She was a friend to everyone she met,” wrote Lisa Johnson, who started the campaign.

Darrel has been fighting “courageously” since then, Johnson said, and he has had surgeries to fix or remove the damaged parts to his body. He will have six or more surgeries in the future along with lots of therapy.

He has been in hospital in North Dakota.

“Please help in any way. He is a strong trooper and life will forever change for him, but we can all help with donations to ease the medical bills. Thank you,” Johnson wrote.

As of Saturday afternoon, the campaign had raised $9,845, with 60 donors providing support. The goal is $20,000. Several people have also voiced support for the Tessiers.
