A GoFundMe page was started recently for Tammy Hooker of Kipling, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Tammy is well known within the community as she has worked at various business over the past several years.
She received the unfortunate news at the beginning of May and will require immediate surgery depending on what her doctors determine as the source.
"Tammy will not be able to work and support herself for some time and we are hoping through this fund raiser we can provide some relief," say the organizers of the page.
She will require the funds to assist with travel expenses, and her day-to-day needs once she returns home from her surgery.
As of Wednesday morning, $1,700 had been raised towards the goal of $5,000.
