REGINA — Volunteer registration is now open for the 2022 Grey Cup Festival that takes place Nov. 15 to 20, 2022 in Regina.
It will be a six-day long festival as the environs around Mosaic Stadium host the activities surrounding the 2022 Grey Cup, billed as Bring it to the Heartland.
Organizers say they will need upwards of 1,200 to 1,500 volunteers for the multitude of indoor and outdoor events planned for the week on the Regina Exhibition (REAL) grounds. All volunteers must complete online registration and a criminal record check, and submit a volunteer commitment fee.
Once registered, they can select their preferred volunteer positions and shifts once they become available in October. Positions include:
- arrival ambassadors,
- greeters,
- information booth volunteers,
- bar assistants,
- VIP motor pool drivers,
- outdoor festival ambassadors,
- sport ambassadors,
- coat check.
Each volunteer is required to pay a commitment fee of $85 plus GST, which covers a portion of the associated costs. Most shifts are four to five hours long and volunteers must commit to a minimum of four shifts. Volunteers must be 19 years of age as of Oct. 15, 2022 and have a valid email address.
In return volunteers will receive an exclusive Grey Cup three-in-one jacket, long-sleeve shirt and toque, valued at over $250, as well as complimentary parking, free admission to the Nex Gen Festival, SaskPower Family Fun Fair and Digital Zone, free refreshments and snacks during volunteer shifts, orientation and training sessions and wind-up celebrations on Nov. 22.
It should be noted Grey Cup Festival volunteers will not be volunteering in Mosaic Stadium on Grey Cup game day. Rider Squad volunteers and CFL officials will be handling the game day duties.
"This event is an opportunity to bring everyone together and show CFL fans how truly special Saskatchewan is,” said Roughriders president and Grey Cup Festival co-chair Craig Reynolds in a news release. “In just over 80 days, we will kick off the greatest celebration in Canadian football – all made possible because of our incredible volunteers.”
