Celebrating nearly a quarter-century, the Homespun Craft Show and Sale is returning for its 24th year at the Carlyle Sports Arena on the weekend of Sept. 18-19.
Recognized throughout the region as 'the biggest little craft show in Saskatchewan,' Homespun attracts craftpersons and artistic talent from across the west of Canada, and parts of the United States, offering them the opportunity to display their wares at the two-day event.
Coinciding with the show itself is the eighth annual Quilt Show, held at Memorial Hall on Main Street in Carlyle, where local quilters will display a selection of their finest work, as well as antique quilts that harken back to the earlier eras when quilting was one of the necessary skills for homemakers.
Hosted at Merit Ford on highway 9 north, a classic and custom car Show n' Shine will also be held to complement the Homespun event.
More than 100 of these vintage and imaginative beauties will be on display at the Show n' Shine, making it a wonderful event to attend for people of all ages and interests.
Attendance at the Show n' Shine is free, and a special shuttle service will be operating throughout the day, affording the public easy access to both venues.
At Homespun, there is a special area set up for food vendors, and many different tasty treats can be had from specialty booths set up on the main floor. From farm-fresh honey, to Italian-style ice cream, the food vendor area is a must-stop for visitors to the event.
For those looking for a full meal, the Carlyle and District Fire Department will be hosting a pancake breakfast next to the Carlyle Sports Arena on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18.
The breakfast is an annual favourite, with vendors, residents and visitors all coming together for a great hot breakfast between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Not just pancakes are served though, as your $7 fee also includes eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, coffee, and juice, making sure no one who comes for the meal will leave hungry!
All proceeds from the breakfast go to support the local all-volunteer fire department, helping these dedicated men and women who make it their business to safeguard people and property in a wide area in and around the town of Carlyle.
Another featured meal event at Homespun is the 'Dinner in the Field.'
A chance to indulge in a great meal and to sit down with people from all over, the dinner is usually packed, the attraction of good food and good company making this another must-do on your event calendar.
Homespun Craft Show and Sale will run Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Carlyle Sports Arena, located at the junction between Second and Third Streets West, just north of the railway line.
The Quilt Show will run the same days and times as Homespun, and will be at Memorial Hall on Main Street in Carlyle.
