REDVERS — In past years, Jeremy Kamp has had friends prompt him to run for Redvers town council, but he felt that it just wasn’t the right time. However, the right time has now arrived, and Kamp decided to submit his nomination, eager to learn some new things and see how the town runs.

“The town is just a big business, it’s neat to see how things run,” Kamp said. “Being a small town, you know everybody there and you’re just trying to help out. It’s a way you can do it from the grassroots level. It’s pretty easy to see your neighbour down the street and he can yell at you if he has to!”

One priority Kamp has is to seek out funding options to upgrade facilities.

“I’m more interested in learning about grant proposals and trying to get things like a new rink or other projects,” he said. “I think they (the town) have other things on the go, and I’m more interested to see how we can progress. And there’s a few empty lots there on the one side of town, on the south side that we could probably try to fill up.”

Aside from working full-time, Kamp isn’t involved in clubs and organizations, but anticipates joining council committees if elected.

“I’m excited,” he said. “I already got a call from the mayor thanking me for letting my name stand!”
