Members of the Benson 4-H Beef Club have remained busy recently, with a variety of activities in December and January.
Members started December off with their annual Christmas party. They had a quick meeting to discuss speeches, curling, fundraisers and the January meeting. Then they wrapped up the meeting so they could start the party with a bunch of fun games.
Members decorated ugly Christmas sweaters, coloured and participated in a fish pond. They threw out the fishing line and caught a present. The Wigley family put on the event and supplied all the gifts.
After the games, club members had a tasty potluck and a Christmas gift exchange.
Members also had the opportunity to serve supper to long-term care at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Dec. 15.
The district 4-H curling competition was held at the Midale Curling Club on Jan. 6. Hailey and Turner Petterson and Dane and Brody Hogg competed. They curled with other clubs and had a lot of fun. Turner Petterson went on to regionals that were held Jan. 13 in Lampman.
Members held their first meeting of 2018 on Jan. 7 at the Mantei/Hale farm. They weighed their steers, then warmed up with hot chocolate and some treats. At their meeting, they discussed their upcoming speeches and their first fundraiser of the year. The club will be having a steak fundraiser on March 6 at Blackbeard’s Restaurant in Estevan.
