In order to keep the public better informed in regards to the role the RCMP plays in the surrounding communities, the Observer will sit down with a member of the RCMP detachment in Carlyle each week to talk about what has been going on in the area. We'll work hard to keep everyone updated but remind people some issues, such as those involving the Mental Health Act, will not be reported in this weekly column. Further, not all traffic offences will be reported.
The Carlyle RCMP detachment handled 67 calls from Aug. 15 to 22.
Aug. 15
During a traffic stop, a 28-year-old male who showed signs of impairment was issued a 24-hour driving suspension.
A farmer from the Redvers area reported a header was stolen off a combine. Police continue to investigate.
Aug. 16
Police were called to a business in Carlyle to after receiving information about suspicious activity. Members made patrols. There were no suspects located and it was determined no offense was committed.
Police issued a seatbelt ticket to a 48-year-old female in Arcola.
Police are investigating a report of a break-and-enter into a storage building in Moose Mountain Provincial Park.
RCMP members were called out to a collision between a car and a deer in the Manor area. There were no injuries and no charges were laid.
Aug. 17
RCMP members were called to a residence in the Carlyle area. Individuals were fighting, and as a result a house and a car were damaged. A 26-year-old male was arrested. Charges are pending.
Police are investigating a report of a break-and-enter to a residence in Carlyle.
Police received a 911 call from Manor. They determined it was kids playing with phone.
A concerned individual called police to inform them of an erratic driver on highway 9, north of Carlyle. Police responded but were unable to locate the suspect.
A warrant was executed in the Carlyle area, where a 27-year-old male subject was brought into custody and taken to Regina.
Members are investigating a report of illegally dumped garbage in the Carlyle area.
Police received an erratic driving complaint on highway 13. The subject was not located.
Aug. 18
A 33-year-old male was charged with talking on his cell phone while driving.
A 42-year-old male was also charged with talking on his cell phone while driving.
The public is reminded that the fine for using a handheld device while driving is $280.
RCMP attended to the scene of a collision by Kenosee Lake. There were no injuries. No charges were laid.
A 42-year-old male was charged with speeding in the Carlyle area.
Police are investigating a break-and-enter to a cabin at White Bear Lake Resort.
The detachment received a report of a suspicious person in Carlyle. The subject was not located.
Aug. 19
RCMP attended to a 911 call. Upon arrival members learned everything was okay.
Carlyle RCMP received a complaint of fraud. The complainant had received a number of cheques in the mail, which were then cashed. The cheques were later found to be counterfeit. These cheques were received from an out-of-country address. The matter is still being investigated by the RCMP. Police are investigating a break-and-enter to a cabin at White Bear Lake Resort.
Carlyle RCMP received a complaint of violence and threats in the area. Members responded. Upon their arrival, they witness further offences of dangerous driving being committed. Police are currently looking for the 26-year-old suspect.
Police responded to a 911 call in Redvers. Upon arrival, police noticed everything was all right and suspect it was kids playing with the phone.
RCMP received a report of someone issueing an NSF cheque in Redvers. The investigation is underway and charges are pending.
Aug. 20
Police are investigating a report of mischief at a residence in Kisbey.
RCMP attended to a residence in the area after a dog bit a child. Police are continuing to investigate.
Members responded to a complaint of mischief to a property in Redvers. No suspects were identified. Police continue to investigate.
Police charged a 36-year-old male with speeding along highway 13.
RCMP responded to a call regarding debris along road on highway 9. When they arrived, the person responsible had cleaned it up already.
Police responded to a traffic complaint in Carlyle. A car had parked on the sidewalk on Main Street. The car had left prior to RCMP attending.
A 58-year-old male was arrested and charged for impaired driving.
Police responded to an assault in the Carlyle area. No arrests were made. The matter is still under investigation.
RCMP members are investigating a complaint of weapons possession involving firearms.
RCMP responded to an alarm at a local business and determined it was a false alarm.
A 19-year-old male was charged with speeding on highway 9.
Aug. 21
RCMP and EMS attended to an assault in Carlyle. Some subjects were taken to hospital and later released. This matter is still under investigation.
A 26-year-old male was charged with having tinted windows. The public is reminded it is a $125 offense to have any tint or covering to a windshield or front side windows.
Police are investigating a break-and-enter to a cabin at White Bear Lake Resort.
A 23-year-old male was charged with failing to comply with his probation order.
Police received a report of a fraudulent phone call received in the area. The suspect was trying to obtain credit card information by claiming to be a representative from a bank offering a lower interest rate. RCMP has determined that the suspect did not represent any legitimate business and Regina Commercial Crime is assisting in the investigation.
Police received a complaint from White Bear Lake Resort that people riding quads were not wearing helmets and were driving erratically. RCMP wants to remind the public the fine for not wearing a helmet while riding an ATV is $100.
Police responded to a call of possible suspicious activity in Carlyle. Members attended and determined no offence was committed.
Members responded to a complaint in Manor regarding an individual who was not allowed to be in the residence in question. No charges will be laid.
Carlyle RCMP received information about an erratic driver. The driver was not located.
RCMP received information about a possible impaired driver. Members located the vehicle, but it was parked at the time. No arrests were made.
Police were called to Arcola as there were people fighting. Some subjects were taken to hospital. Charges are pending.
Aug. 22
Police attended to a residence in Carlyle where people were screaming outside. No one was hurt or injured. No charges are being laid.
RCMP responded to a fire on White Bear Lake First Nation. The home was unoccupied at the time. The house was completely destroyed by the fire. Since police have been unable to determined the cause, it is considered suspicious and therefore being investigated.
Regina Police Service requested Carlyle RCMP assistance in a apparent child abduction. The parent and child were later located in Regina.
Police responded to an area just outside of Redvers after receiving a mischief complaint to a water pump station. The suspects damaged the power control box causing extensive damage. RCMP attended, exhibits were seized and the matter is under investigation.
RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Carlyle area. The vehicle was not located.
A 40-year-old male was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
