REGINA — A Regina man has been charged with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation of possession and distribution of child pornography through two popular online social media applications.
On May 3, members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Regina that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
As a result of police investigation, Zackary Bellegarde, age 35, of Regina was arrested on June 10 and has been charged with:
- two counts of possession of child pornography;
- two counts of distribution of child pornography.
He was released from the Regina Provincial Court on numerous conditions. He will next appear in court on July 28 at 9:30 a.m.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
