ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service says a drug-trafficking investigation conducted by the EPS Drug Intelligence Unit (DIU) resulted in the arrest of a Regina man on Wednesday.
EPS patrol members assisted the DIU and Criminal Investigation Unit with executing a search warrant at a residence in Estevan. Cocaine and Canadian currency were seized by investigators during the search.
Adam Jaleta, age 36, of Regina, has been charged with possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking cocaine.
Jaleta made his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on March 2 and has been remanded in custody to speak to the matter at a later date.
The charges have not been proven in court.
In other recent police news, officers were called to a downtown business Tuesday to a report of a disturbance. A moment later, a man walked through the front door of the police station looking for assistance. Both circumstances are connected and a 30-year-old Bienfait man was arrested for causing a disturbance and breaching conditions of a probation order. He was held in cells until sober. He was also set up with services by the EPS Police and Crisis Team.
Police were called to disturbance in the northeast side of the city. A male and female and their newborn child were at the residence. Police spent a considerable amount of time with the family and they were given access to services.
Members are investigating a report of harassing communications after receiving several text messages from an unknown person.
Police attended a local hotel Monday for a well-being check on a male who did not show up for work. Entry had to be made into the room to get to him. Estevan EMS was called in to check him over and he was cleared medically. He was able to stay in his room and had a friend be there to help him.
Officers were called to a residence in north Estevan for a male who initially was refusing to leave. He was leaving as members arrived.
Police responded to an alarm at a downtown business. A person was located on scene but he was allowed to be there.
Members responded to a noise complaint in north Estevan. The subject was located and warned of the bylaw.
Police received a call from a local male looking to turn himself in to clear up his warrant. He was picked up at a location in Estevan and he was released with a new court date.
