REGINA — Fans of the iconic winter music festival finally have the answer to the question, “When will Winterruption be back?”
The Winterruption series will be returning to the Queen City from March 30 to April 2, featuring eight musical artists at two local venues.
The winter event held by the Regina Folk Festival typically takes place at the end of January, but was postponed due to pandemic safety concerns.
“We appreciate the grace and flexibility everyone has shown in helping us make this rescheduling as smooth as possible,” said artistic director Amber Goodwyn.
A lineup of musicians for the new concert dates is the same group that was scheduled earlier in the year, including Toronto rapper DijahSB with Regina eight-piece hip-hop band People of the Sun, Japanese psych-rock group TEKE::TEKE with indie band Snake River, and Canadian icons The Sadies with Saskatchewan “doom-wop” three-piece The Garrys.
Singer-songwriter Julian Taylor will close out the series, performing alongside Sask Music’s Indigenous Artist of the Year winners The North Sound on the final date.
“Every musical act in Winterruption is a must-experience with sounds that ignite the party and inspire community,” said Goodwyn. “Each night has a completely different feeling.”
