This series of photos shows the drop of 8,250 golf balls from a bucket suspended high above by a crane at the Weyburn Golf Course on Saturday. The final photo shows Estevan Rotarian, and assistant district governor, Art Beselt holding the winning ball.

The winning ball of a $5,000 cash prize was bought by Curtis LeBlanc of Estevan; second place, winning $3,000, was Weyburn resident Garnet Hart, and the third prize of $1,000 was won by Andrea Bobier of Weyburn.

This was the largest number of tickets ever sold for the Golf Ball Drop, which is a joint project with the Weyburn and Estevan Rotary Clubs.

The Weyburn club sold 4,700 balls and Estevan sold 3,550, for a total of 8,250, far above last year’s total of 7,903 golf balls.

At $5 a ticket, this was a total of $41,250 raised by this raffle. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the STARS Air Ambulance, and the two Rotary Clubs will determine what their share of the proceeds will be supporting.
