Regina Police Service, investigating in conjunction with Canadian border services agents, seized a number of 3D-printed firearms parts while executing a warrant in Regina.

REGINA — Regina police and members of the Canada Border Services Agency have concluded an extended investigation into firearms trafficking with an arrest and seizure of firearms and parts.

The Regina Police Service Crime Reduction Team, working alongside the CBSA, executed a search warrant on the 300 block of Holland Avenue in Regina last week that resulted in the arrest of one Regina man.

The warrant was issued following a two-month investigation into illegal importation of prohibited devices into Canada, following a tip from CBSA officers at the Vancouver International Mail Centre.

The CRT said that investigation led to the conclusion that firearms parts were allegedly being imported and manufactured by the individual, which is illegal without a proper firearms business license issued.

Investigators reportedly found and seized  both restricted and non-restricted firearms, firearms parts, prohibited devices and ammunition.

Police also seized 3D-printed firearms components and 3D printers, in relation to the warrant.

The 58-year-old man was arrested at the time of the search, and is now multiple weapons trafficking and manufacturing charges, including:

  • four counts of weapons manufacturing;
  • seven counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing it is unauthorized;
  • two counts of possession of weapons for the purpose of trafficking;
  • one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;
  • one count of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized;
  • and one count of importing a prohibited device knowing it is unauthorized.

He made a first court appearance in provincial court on Feb. 11.
