REGINA - The Saskatchewan RCMP is advising the public to use common sense as a powerful winter storm approaches southern Saskatchewan.
"Let’s hope this is the last time we have to repeat this message: snow is forecasted for much of Saskatchewan tonight (April 18) through to Thursday (April 20)," the RCMP said in a news release.
"The projected heavy snowfall and high winds are likely to create dangerous road conditions in some locations, particularly in the southern half of the province."
Before travelling, the RCMP asks people to check the weather forecast and road conditions, as well as for potential closures for both your departure and arrival points.
"If conditions will be poor, consider delaying non-essential travel," the RCMP said.
If you decide to travel, ensure your vehicle has lots of fuel and that you have extra warm clothes, snacks, water, a phone charger and a snow shovel on hand. Also consider stocking your vehicle with traction mats, a tow rope or chain, and a booster cable.
