Scary campsites, costumes at Nickle Lake’s Halloween in the Park

Around 200 costumed children went trick-or-treating for Halloween in the Park at Nickle Lake on Saturday evening.

WEYBURN – Close to 200 costumed children made their way around Nickle Lake Regional Park on Saturday evening for their annual Halloween in the Park event.

Many sites were decorated for the event and most handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters as they made their way through the park.

Prizes were awarded for the costumes, treat bags were given out to all costumed children, and the best decorated sites also received prizes.

The top three costumes for children were Piper McCoy in first as a cupcake; Scarlett Koller in second as a sunflower; and Braxton Wallin was third as a bowl of mac-and-cheese.

There were numerous other costume prizes given as well, such as for the cutest costume, most elaborate costume, and the oldest and youngest campers who dressed up.

For the top three camp sites, Site  80, the Manko family, won first prize; Site 132-133 (the Seghers family) won second; and site 415, the Scott family, won third prize.

After all the costume prizes were awarded, the park held Haunted Glow Golf from 9 p.m. to midnight.
