The boards of education for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division and the South East Cornerstone Public School Division have approved the 2021-22 school year calendar that will be used by both divisions.
The first day of classes is slated for Sept. 1, which would be before the Labour Day long weekend.
The last day of classes before the Christmas break is Dec. 17. Christmas holidays will run from Dec. 20-Dec. 31, and the first day back will be Jan. 3.
There will be a winter break in February 2022. The last day of classes before the break will be Feb. 18. Classes will resume on Feb. 28.
As for spring break in 2022, the last day of classes will be April 14. Good Friday will be April 15. Classes will resume on April 25.
The final day of classes is slated for June 28, 2022.
The school year calendar still needs approval from the Ministry of Education.
In keeping with legislative and regulatory amendments, calendars must ensure that a minimum of 950 hours of instructional time is provided to all students. These legislative and regulatory amendments were implemented to ensure that there is a consistent minimum amount of instruction time.
