Stoughton Museum proudly hosted their Second Annual Dog Show on the evening of August 18th in front of the museum. Over 20 people enjoyed watching as the dogs were judged on Best Costume, Obediance, and Tricks. A great variety of ages and skills were represented by the dogs, so on the lighter side categories were included for the youngest, oldest, biggest, smallest, etc., until all the dozen or so participants received a prize. The museum thanks Dr. Anne Kernaleguen for judging the dogs and also Stoughton Veterinary Services and Crystal's Pet Shop of Stoughton for donating the wonderful prizes for the event.
Stoughtn Museum also had a display of Bridal Dresses open to the public for viewing. 25 dresses were donated for this event. The oldest dress was froo 1907 a two piece skirt and blouse worn by Lottie Crothers when she married Bert Dunham. Cornelia Beha Matter who married William Russell also had her dress on display and Gladys Hale's dress from 1926 ( married to Jimmy Hales) was also on display for viewing. The most recent wedding dress odisplayed was Diana Adams from 2007.
In other news the swimming pool closes on Tuesday August 24th and school resumes on Thursday the 26th.
Several streets in Stoughton have been paved: Lundy Place and Markov Place as well as Railway Avenue and the parking lot of the new Poplar Tree Inn has been paved.
Stoughton Health Clinic is now open two days a week for appointments, thanks to the new agreement entered into with the Moose Mountain Health Care Corporation. The doctors taking appointments are all from Arcola.
