Suspicious package determined to be hoax device

Regina Police Service responded to a call about a suspicious package.

REGINA — Regina Police Service Explosives Disposal Unit reports it has determined a suspicious package found on a property in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue is a hoax device.

Regina Police issued a news release Tuesday afternoon confirming there is no risk to the public or police from this package.

According to police, the investigation started after police were dispatched around 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to a residence in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue. The property owner had spotted a package outdoors on the property that appeared suspicious.

There was no explanation how the package got there and its appearance was concerning.

Police were contacted and they sent over patrol officers along with members of the Explosives Disposal Unit, who determined the package to be a hoax device.
