WEYBURN – The deadline for nominations for the Women of Distinction Awards is fast approaching, as they need to be in by Friday, March 31.
The First Annual Women of Distinction Awards Gala is being organized for the first time by the Weyburn YF Wives Club, and it will be held on Friday, May 5 at McKenna Hall.
The awards, formerly the Quota Women of the Year Awards, have been taken over by the YF Wives Club.
There are four award categories, including the Weyburn Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award; the YF Wives Community Service Award; the Exceptional Entrepreneur Award; and the Weyburn Oilwomen’s Young Woman of Distinction Award.
The Workplace Excellence Award will be presented to a woman who supports the diverse needs of the workplace, and is a role model in best workplace practices.
The Community Service Award will go to a woman who is a volunteer who mentors and inspire others through involvement in community programs and organizations.
The Exceptional Entrepreneur Award will be presented to a woman who has successfully launched a business, product or service, and remains active in the business.
The Young Woman of Distinction Award will go to a woman between the ages of 18-30 who has made a significant contribution to the life of her community, and demonstrates outstanding leadership.
All nominees must be over the age of 18 and living in Weyburn or within a 50-km radius of the city, and the nominations will be considered by the selection committee, which will be comprised of an independent group of volunteers.
Nomination submissions can be sent by email to [email protected], or mailed or dropped off at 20 Shields Place, Weyburn, S4H 0C3.
The Gala tickets will be available by mid-April. Tickets will be provided for the nominee and one guest, and additional tickets will be $65 each.
