Weyburn police arrested an adult man in relation to a shooting at a residence on Sunday night.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service (WPS) responded to a reported shooting at a residence located in the city at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Sunday evening, Jan. 14.

Upon arrival, officers found two adult males inside the home, one of whom had been shot in the foot. Officers provided first aid to the injured male until EMS personnel attended and provided further medical attention.

Officers learned that the suspect, a third adult male, all known to each other, had left the home on foot after the shooting occurred and was believed to be in possession of firearms.

Local RCMP and several off-duty WPS officers were called to assist in searching for the suspect. A short time later, two WPS officers located the suspect in an unlocked vehicle a few blocks away from the residence and took him into custody without incident.

Several criminal and firearm related offences are pending as the investigation continues. The injured male was treated and released from the Weyburn General Hospital early this morning. Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a contributing factor.
