Weyburn's Swing for Scholarships tournament raises $10,000

Fifteen teams took part in the Swing for Scholarships golf tournament at the Weyburn Golf Club.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament took place on Friday at the Weyburn Golf Club. The 2022 Swing for Scholarships tournament raised roughly $10,000 in scholarship dollars for students pursuing a post-secondary education at Southeast College.

These dollars will be matched through the Ministry of Advanced Education through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program to create just over $20,000 in student scholarships.

Swing for Scholarships 2022 saw 15 teams participating with countless community supporters including:

• Drive for Education Sponsors: MNP and Prairie Sky Coop;

• Golf Cart Sponsor: Whitecap Resources;

• Safe Ride Sponsor: South Country Equipment;

• Hole Sponsors: Weyburn Credit Union, Crescent Point, ProTouch Signs, New Age, Rona, Westrum Timber Mart, Bandit’s Distilling, Carpet One, T&C Family Restaurant, Liquor Spot, Western Financial, Minard’s Leisure World, Suretest Oilfield, SGEU, Authority Oilfield, Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, and Sasktel, along with many raffle prize sponsors.

The Tournament Low Score winning team was Team Prairie Sky Co-op, and the tournament’s Most Honest Score or Highest Score was Team Safety Belts.

Southeast College is proud to be the Trainer of Choice in southeast Saskatchewan offering educational opportunities that encourage students to learn where they live. A number of post-secondary programs are now accepting applications for 2023-24.
