Weyburn's own Saskatchewan Roughriders' guard, who wears jersey #57, Brendon LaBatte, was recently presented with a customized Chevrolet Silverado LT 4x4 from Barber Motors. The use of the truck is a token of appreciation for LaBatte's success as an athlete who has chosen to live in his home town of Weyburn. LaBatte will drive the Silverado as he commutes to Regina for his Roughriders practices, games and flights.

"We just want to be associated with someone who has the kind of values that we want to see and Brendon has that," said Barber Motors General Manager, Mal Barber. "We've watched him over his youth, when he was involved in minor sports in Weyburn and he was always a true sportsman. He represented himself very well."

Barber added that his family has been associated with the LaBatte family for many years.

"His roots are in this area and in the Radville area as well," added Barber.

The customized truck includes Barber Motors and 'LaBatte 57' decals, as well as a few after-market modifications, such as five-star black Rock Star rims and RECON LED tail lights, as well as a Roughriders hitch cover by Cloud Rider.

"I'm happy to be able to come home and play in Saskatchewan and to team up with the hometown GM dealership," said LaBatte. "Our family has got a lot of ties with General Motors and Chevrolet with the auto racing and stuff like that. It's always been small block Chevrolet, so it's definitely a good fit."

"I'm just excited to help represent Barber Motors and hopefully I can help them gain some exposure up in Regina and on the road to Regina," added LaBatte.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are in full gear with the current season and the next home game is scheduled for August 25 against the Calgary Stampeders.
