ESTEVAN - The Estevan Great North U18 AAA Bears are riding a three-game winning streak.

On the heels of a 5-3 win over the Regina Pat Canadians Wednesday night at Affinity Place, the Bears swept weekend games against the Yorkton Maulers.

The two teams met in Carlyle on Saturday night, with Estevan winning 6-1. After Yorkton took an early 1-0 lead, Estevan drew even on a goal by Burgess.

Estevan took over in the middle frame. Jase McNichol, who is one of the top scorers in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League, put Estevan ahead midway through the second, and Cooper Flath and Carter Onrait tallied less than two minutes apart for a three-goal lead.

Aidan Mohan and Burgess scored 23 seconds apart in the third to round out the scoring.

Onrait added three assists for a four-point game.

Ty Fehrenbach of Carlyle, who was called up from the Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins for the game, started for the Bears and stopped 24 shots.

The following day, Estevan scored thrice in each of the first and second periods in a 6-1 rout of the Maulers. Marc Belanger, Onrait and Ries scored in the opening six minutes of the first period to give the Bears all of the offence they needed. Yorkton notched their lone goal of the game late in the first period.

Kade McIvor scored twice for Estevan in the second period and Onrait also scored in the middle frame to dash any hope of a Yorkton comeback.

Belanger added three helpers to finish with four points.

Cole Ivey stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced for Estevan.

The Bears (7-4-0-2) will host the Notre Dame Hounds on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. at Affinity Place. Then they will have home games against the Battlefords Stars on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and the following day at 1:45 p.m.
