Estevan Bruins fall to the Hounds in Notre Dame

Notre Dame scored three times in the final three minutes in a 6-2 victory.

WILCOX - The Estevan Bruins struggles against the Notre Dame Hounds this season continued Wednesday night.

The Bruins lost 6-2 to the Hounds in Wilcox, with the Hounds scoring three times in the final three minutes to pull away.

Notre Dame's Marko Djordjevic opened the scoring with just over five minutes to play in the first period, and Liam Hunks added to the lead in the second. Ilia Chmelevski pulled the Bruins to within one less than a minute after Hunks' goal.

It remained a 2-1 game until Vincent Palmarin scored for Notre Dame with just over seven minutes to play in the third. Felix Allard's goal less than two minutes later brought the Bruins back to within one, and the Bruins had a late power play.

Alexander Hollands scored a short-handed, empty-net goal to make it a 4-2 game, Cole Wirun added another empty-netter moments later and Carson Reagan finished the scoring with a power-play goal with 39 seconds to play. 

Cam Hrdlicka made 23 saves for the Bruins, while Spencer Bosos had 35 saves for Notre Dame. 

Estevan (16-19-1-2) has lost three of four meetings against the Hounds (11-28-2), who sit last in the SJHL standings but the Hounds have won their last three games. 

The Bruins will host the Humboldt Broncos Friday and Saturday night at Affinity Place. Both games start at 7 p.m.
