Estevan U18 AA Bruins’ season ends in Regina

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins saw their season come to an end Monday night in a 4-2 loss to the host Regina Vics.

Regina won the best of five Saskatchewan AA Hockey League South Division final in three straight games.

Estevan dropped Game 1 4-1 last Wednesday. After a scoreless first period, Carter Beck scored 3:29 into the second period to open the scoring, but then Regina scored twice before the period was out and added two in the third.

Ty Fehrenbach stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced for Estevan.

Game 2 was a 6-1 Regina win Sunday night in Estevan. Beck once again had the lone goal for Estevan – a power-play marker with 4:31 to play in the second period to make the score 3-1.

Fehrenbach (25 saves on 30 shots) and Keagan Carley (four saves on five shots) shared Estevan’s goaltending duties.

As for Game 3 on Monday, the Bruins were down 2-0 after the first period and 4-1 through two. James Mann and Spencer Copeland scored for Estevan. Copeland’s goal came 18 seconds into the third period.

Fehrenbach (five saves on seven shots) and Carley (25 saves on 27 shots) shared the goaltending duties again.

Estevan had the best second-best record in the South Division during the regular season at 28-5-2, four points behind the Vics (30-3-1-1). Estevan swept the Weyburn Wings in the quarter-final round and the Regina Rangers in the semifinal.
