Estevan U18 AA Bruins went three-for-three on the weekend

The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins won three times on the weekend.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Apex U18 AA Bruins also had a great weekend, winning three games in a 48-hour span.

The Bruins opened the weekend with a 5-2 victory over the Notre Dame Argos. Declyn Henderson and Spencer Copeland scored in the first period, Mason Fichter and James Mann tallied in the second, and Turner Knockaert rounded out the scoring in the third.

Keagan Carley made 16 saves in goal for Estevan.

Estevan then had two games against the Lumsden-Bethune Lions. The first was a 7-1 romp Saturday. Mann had two goals for Estevan, and Copeland, Fichter, Knockaert, Kaden Chrest and Boden Dukart had the other goals.

Ty Fehrenbach made 21 saves in the victory.

Their final game was a 7-4 win over the Lions. Mann, Emmett McCarthy and Chrest had goals in the first period, and then Henderson, Mann, Beck and Knockaert had goals in the second to give the Bruins a 7-3 lead after 40 minutes. Estevan’s final three goals came two minutes apart late in the second period.

Carley had 27 saves for Estevan.

The next game for the U18 AA Bruins (12-1-1) will be Nov. 14 against the Regina Rangers at 6:30 p.m.

The Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins dropped a pair of games on their latest northern road trip.

The first was a 6-2 decision against the Warman Wildcats. Gunner Moore and Cowan Ludtke had the goals for Estevan; Ludtke’s goal midway through the second period left Estevan down 3-2, but Warman added three more before the game was finished.

Jaxon Kuchinka made 39 saves in the Estevan goal.

Estevan’s other game was a 9-3 loss to the Martensville Marauders. Moore, Payton Phillips and Axton Martin scored for Estevan.

Chase Borreson stopped 40 of the 49 shots he faced.

The TS&M Bruins (1-9) will return to the ice Nov. 16 at the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.
