Kim Walker wins senior women's golf provincials at Woodlawn

Walker won the tournament for the third time in four years.

ESTEVAN - For the second straight year and the third time in the last four years, Kim Walker is the Golf Saskatchewan Senior Women's provincial champion.

Walker shot a three-round total of 231 to win the tournament, held Tuesday to Thursday at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course. She took the lead from the outset of the tournament, shooting a 73 in the first round, and then carding an 80 in the second round and a 78 in the third.

She finished three strokes ahead of Regina's Tamara Harasen, who had a 76 in the first round, an 83 in the second and a 75 in the third.

Lorie Boyle, competing out of Moose Jaw's Hillcrest Golf Club, had a 240 total (78-81-81). Boyle also won the Mae Belmos Award for the top over-65 golfer in the tournament.

The tournament was held Tuesday to Thursday at Woodlawn.

Walker noted conditions were ideal on Tuesday, but they toughened up Wednesday when the wind kicked up. As for Thursday's round, she three-putted three straight holes on the back nine, but recovered to birdie 18 and put the tournament away.

She noted she was highly impressed with the course conditions as well, and she loves playing in Estevan.
