WEYBURN - Supporters, volunteers, and community members are invited to attend the annual general meeting for the Weyburn Red Wings on Wednesday, August 9 in the conference room of the Ramada Hotel at 7 p.m.

“We are very excited to be able to showcase some of the successes of the season from community involvement to success on the ice. It’s always a great night to be able to talk about some of the great things within our organization that people don’t see everyday,” said head coach and general manager Cody Mapes.

In addition to going over the past season of hockey, the Red Wings executive will be voting on changes to the team’s bylaws.

While the general public is welcome to attend the AGM, only Weyburn Red Wings members in good standing will be able to vote on proposed bylaw changes and board nominations.

For those who are members of the hockey club, the annual renewal fee is $20, and for those interested in becoming a member, the 2023 membership fee is $50.

Mapes noted that season tickets are on sale as well, and “we are hoping to fill the rink in September as we go through exhibition games leading into the start of the start of the regular season against the Yorkton Terriers on Sept 22.”

Training camp this season will run the weekend of Aug. 25-27, said Mapes. “We are looking forward to a very competitive camp. The Eric Calibaba and Friends Cup, formerly known as the Red-and-White game, will be played at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.”
