The Calgary Stampeders have signed University of Regina Rams defensive back Jackson Sombach.

The Regina native was selected in the seventh round, 60th overall during the 2024 CFL Draft. Sombach saw action in two pre-season games with the Red and White, recording two defensive tackles and then to the Rams for his final U Sports season.

Sombach earned second-team All-Canadian honours and a Canada West all-star nod for the second time in his career after registering 38 tackles, nine passes defended, two interceptions and one fumble recovery in 11 games. One of the interceptions came in Regina’s Hardy Cup victory over the University of Saskatchewan.

In 38 career games with the Rams, the five-foot-eight, 185-pound Sombach recorded 141 tackles, 24 passes defended, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one sack.

The Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School graduate has a shot to stick with the Stampeders.
