ESTEVAN - The reigning Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League champions have announced their captain and alternate captains for the 2022-23 season.
Kade Runke will be the captain for the Estevan Bruins, while two southeast Saskatchewan products, Cody Davis and Alex Von Sprecken, will be the alternate captains. All three were part of last season's championship team.
Runke joined the Bruins early last season and delivered 22 goals and 22 assists in 54 games. He added six goals and five assists in 16 postseason games.
Davis and Von Sprecken are both in their fourth years with the Bruins.
Davis had 11 goals and 21 assists in 56 games last year. In the playoffs, the Alameda native had two goals and three assists in 16 games.
He is the younger brother of former Bruin captain Jayden Davis.
Von Sprecken, meanwhile, hails from Estevan and had eight goals and 11 assists in 48 games last year. He added three assists in 14 postseason games.
The Bruins will open their season on Sept. 16 at home against the Yorkton Terriers. The 2021-22 championship team will be saluted at 7 p.m., prior to the game.
