The South East midget AA Goldwings hit the road this past weekend and came away with a pair of victories over the Parkland Fire in Melville in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action.
The Goldwings won the first game 4-2 on Nov. 10, and the second 3-1 on Nov. 11.
In the first game, Alyssa Ohrt scored twice, while Khloe Bedore and Marci LeBlanc added singles.
Hailey Labbie and Kendra Kotylak scored less than four minutes apart in the second period of the second game to break open a 1-1 game.
Jordan Meyers tallied for the Goldwings in the first period.
Kara Zelyck was in goal for the Goldwings in the first game and Taryn McKinney was the goalie for the second for the Goldwings, who lead the midget AA league’s South Division with a 7-1 record.
In the midget A division, the Carlyle Wildcats were swept in a home and home with the Regina Renegades. The Wildcats lost 5-4 on Nov. 10 in Regina, and 4-0 at home the following day.
The Wildcats scored three times in the first period of the opening game, with Kassidy Johnson, Beth McCarthy and Courtney Roppel scoring for Carlyle.
The Renegades tied the scoring in the second. Roppel notched her second of the game late in the middle frame to give Carlyle a lead, but Regina tied the game with 62 second to play in the middle frame, and then picked up the winning goal early in the third.
The Renegades scored three times in the second period of the second game to take a 3-0 lead, and rounded out the scoring in the third.
Missy Biermann was in goal the first game and Kaili Adams was the goalie in the second for Carlyle, whose record fell to 0-5-2.
The Estevan bantam Bearcats dropped their lone game, a 6-1 decision Nov. 10 at home to the Balcarres Barracudas. Caydence Chapman had the Bearcats lone goal, a power play marker in the second period, but by that point, the Barracudas already had five goals.
Emmey Rae was the goalie for the Bearcats, whose record is 2-4-1.
The peewee Bearcats split their weekend games, winning 5-2 in Wood River against the Ice Cats, but losing 5-3 at home to the Weyburn Angels, leaving their record at 3-4.
Kaylin Wilhelm had a hat trick for the peewees against Wood River, scoring once in each period. Gracie LeBlanc and Lauren Hassler had the other goals.
The Wings led 3-0 after the first period in the Nov. 11 game, but the Bearcats fought back to tie. Kasenya Einarson scored early in the second for the Bearcats first goal, and then Hassler and Wilhelm tallied in the third to tie the contest.
Weyburn scored twice in the final few minutes to win the game.
Riley Scott was in goal both contests.
In the atom division, the Estevan Bearcats (4-1) defeated the Estevan Senchuk Bearcats (4-4-1) 5-0 on Nov. 10 in a battle between the two local teams.
Presley Hollingshead, Kaybree Fonstad and Julia Durr scored for the victors in the first, and then Durr added her second of the game in the second. Alexis Williamson’s goal in the third rounded out the scoring.
Taylor Short earned the shutout in goal. Kiera Barker was in goal for the Senchuk Bearcats.
