WEYBURN – The Weyburn Comp Eagles junior boys basketball continued their winning streak at a tournament in Moosomin over the weekend with their fourth tournament championship in a row.

The boys defeated a very tough team from Indian Head on Friday night 54-44. On Saturday morning they cruised to an easy victory over Whitewood 78-16, and then defeated Moosomin in the final 49-27.

The victory over Moosomin was their 15th win in a row.

The girls were off this weekend after defeating St. Michael in an exhibition game on Thursday by the score of 47-14.

Both teams are off until they play in the final tournament of the year at St. Michael School on March 3 and 4, and then the South East district championships on March 8.

The WCS Eagles senior boys went to Moose Jaw on Friday and Saturday.

They started the tournament with a win Friday over Moose Jaw Vanier.

On Saturday, they played Regina Johnson in the morning, with a tight first half, but Johnson was able to hold the lead and the Eagles fell, placing them in the third place game versus North Battleford.

A strong shooting NB squad got the lead and held it for the game and the Eagles finished fourth in the tourney.
