Gabriella Friesen of Legacy Park is the provincial U12 girls champ for punting.

WEYBURN – A Weyburn girl is the provincial U12 champion for punting, after she took part in the provincial competition on Oct. 16 in Regina.

Gabriella Friesen, a student at Legacy Park Elementary School, began her journey to the championship by winning all three categories for the Punt, Pass and Kick competition for U12 girls at Legacy Park.

She moved on to regionals for Punt with a punt of 111 metres, and attended Regionals in Carlyle on Oct. 4 where she punted 86 metres to move her on to Provincials.

Gabriella went to the provincial competition in Regina on Oct. 16th and won the U12 Punt category with a 76.11 metre punt, beating U12 girls from Regina and Saskatoon.

She was presented with prizes of four tickets to a Riders game, a Rider jersey and a plaque, and she attended the Riders game on Oct. 22.
