Weyburn Red Wings blanked twice by Bruins in last home-and-home series

The Red WIngs will host a comedy night and awards banquet on March 6

WEYBURN – The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings lost twice in a home-and-home series against their Highway 39 rivals.

The Bruins blanked the Red Wings 4-0 during the first game, held in Weyburn at Crescent Point Place on Friday night. The Bruins scored one goal in the first period, two in the second period, and one goal in the third period.

The Red Wings had 14 attempts on net in the first period, only one attempt in the second period, and five shots in the third period.

Dazza Mitchell was in net for the loss, stopping 31 out of 35 shots.

The following night, while playing in Estevan, the Bruins blanked the Red Wings again, with a strong 10-0 victory.

The Bruins scored two goals in the first period, four in the second period and four in the third period.

The Red Wings had four shots on net in the first period, eight in the second period and six in the third period.

Jackson Fellner was in net for the loss, stopping 45 out of 55 shots.

The Red Wings play in Battleford on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and will be playing again in Battleford on Wednesday, Feb. 23. They host Yorkton at Crescent Point Place, on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The Red Wings will host a comedy night and awards banquet on Sunday, March 6 at the Weyburn Legion Hall. A limit of 200 tickets are available for this event, and the proceeds will support the Weyburn Red Wings Education Fund.
