Weyburn Wild win silver medal, advance to Westerns

With a silver, the Wild will advance to Westerns, which will take place August 17-20 in Winkler, Manitoba.

WEYBURN - The Hawkeye Security Weyburn U17 Wild attended provincials in Regina from July 14-16, bringing home silver and earning a berth in the Western Canadians.

The Wild started off round robin play against the Regina Lazers on Friday night, winning 13-6. The Wild beat the Battleford Bandits 11-4 in Saturday morning and defeated Parkland Heat by a score of 9-3 in the afternoon, advancing to Sunday’s championship round.

Weyburn took care of the Unity Panthers 16-9 on Sunday morning to advance to the gold medal game against the Battleford Bandits in the afternoon. The Bandits took the game 21-6 to take gold. With a silver, the Wild will advance to Westerns, which will take place August 17-20 in Winkler, Manitoba.
