Weyburn Wrestling Club brings home medals from Regina tourney

The Weyburn Wrestling Club went to Regina for the Ascendant Wrestling Invitational Tournament on Feb. 3 with 20 wrestlers, and came home with a total of 13 medals.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Wrestling Club went to Regina for the Ascendant Wrestling Invitational Tournament on Feb. 3 with 20 wrestlers, and came home with a total of 13 medals, including two gold, seven silver and four bronze.

The results are as follows:

In the Freshie category: Lochlan Pirlot placed second for silver; Owen Pulfer placed second for silver; Grady McLeod finished fourth, and Madyx Weiss, Anna Lanz and Meagan Kerr all finished fifth.

In the Novice category: Conner Pocha won first for gold; Sophie McLeod won second for silver; Rastyn Weiss placed third for bronze; Brysen Richaud came fourth, and Leiro Dayaan was fifth.

In Peewee: Landon Leroux won first for gold; Owen Arthur, Jep Furgason, Hudson Fowler and Ezakiel Peralta also won second for silver, and Donovan Lanz finished third for bronze.

In the Bantam Male category, Ephraim Henning won third for bronze.

In Cadet/juvenile: Avlynn Drake placed third for bronze, and Khloe Higgins finished fourth.

The club’s next tournament will be on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Moose Jaw for the 2024 South Saskatchewan Wrestling Championship.
