The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced April 15 the temporary reduction of service hours at certain ports of entry along the Canada-U.S. border.

These COVID-19 related measures are temporary. They will take effect at 9:59 p.m. Saskatchewan time on April 15, and remain in effect until further notice.

The Port of Regway, which has traditionally been open 24 hours a day, will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Estevan, Carievale, Northgate and Oungre crossings will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, while Climax, Monchy and West Poplar River crossings will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The North Portal border crossing is not affected by this decision. It will be the only border crossing in Saskatchewan open 24/7 after the new hours at Regway take effect.

A total of 27 crossings are affected. Most of them are in the Prairie provinces and Quebec.

All non-essential travel into Canada continues to be prohibited.

Economic supply chains and trade will remain open and the CBSA says it will work to ensure that access to goods and services is not interrupted. As such, the CBSA says these changes should not affect commercial traffic.
