The Alida Rec. Board will not be hosting a Sports Day again this year. Instead, they decided to have a Summer BBQ Package Raffle, with items related to a barbecue (plates, chairs, lights, food, etc.)
The raffle will be available online as well as the squares on display at some of our local businesses. Hope you will continue to support the Rec. Board in their fundraisers, which helps with expenses of their forthcoming events. At this time, they will soon be getting the swimming pool ready for this season as well as looking for workers.
Everyone seems to be busy with either yardwork, preparing flower beds or just getting ready for the nice warm weather of spring. The men are very busy with their seeding and they seem to be moving right along. Let’s hope that their luck holds out and no one has any serious break downs.
I know our guys have had a few small ones that only took a few minutes to fix things so they could continue with their job.
I was looking forward to seeing our granddaughter preform in her dance recital on May 2 – but unfortunately the recital had to be cancelled again this year due to COVID-19 showing its face among some of the dancers. One of these times I’m sure we will defeat this pandemic and slowly return back to being normal.
Hope everyone enjoyed their year of dance, despite no recital. I’m sure you all worked hard.
It is Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9 – so do remember to wish your Mom the very best on this her special day. I’m secretly planning on visiting our local greenhouse and maybe picking out some flowers for my flower beds, flower pots and maybe even pick out some garden veggies. A very “Happy Mother’s Day” is extended to each and every one of you moms.
Gee it does seem to be too early to be thinking about transplanting bedding plants, but then I usually wait and try to get them accustomed to the outside weather for a while before actually transplanting them. Well Hubby hasn’t had time to work the garden area yet anyway.
Wishing the following a happy birthday this week – Ericka {Carlsen) Land, Claire Germain, Abbie Land, Lincoln Peet, and Gill Boutin. Â
