WEYBURN - A winter blizzard blew through the area as the CPKC Holiday Train rolled into Weyburn on Wednesday evening, the last stop for the U.S. train.
Guest performers were Alana Springsteen and Mitch Thompson of Seaforth, and local dignitaries were on hand to provide greetings.
Springsteen was first up, and she instantly noted the blizzard that was blowing hard with snow and a high wind chill.
Greetings were brought by Mayor Jeff Richards and Weyburn-Bengough MLA Mike Weger, and two donations were then presented to Nicole Strickland of the Weyburn Salvation Army for the food bank.
Representatives of the Weyburn OTS presented a donation of $5,000, and the employees of CPKC Rail presented a donation of $5,500.
The crowd was small for the show, due to the extreme cold of the wind and snow, but the show was presented to the hardy souls who braved the wind chill to hear the music, before the train went on its way up the Soo Line.
