ESTEVAN - The largest recreational hockey tournament in Saskatchewan is underway.
The Estevan Strippers Spring Bust Tournament began Wednesday night with four games, two at Affinity Place and two at the Power Dodge Arena.
Six more games are scheduled for Thursday night, starting at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m. at the two rinks.
The activity will pick up on Friday, with games starting at 1:30 p.m. There will be action at the two rinks again, and also at the Bienfait Memorial Arena.
Then there will be games throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. The final game is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday.
This year's tournament has 40 teams in the over-30, over-45 and women's divisions.
In addition to the on-ice competition, there will be cabarets on Friday and Saturday night at the Power Dodge Curling Centre. DJ Dave Elliott will supply music on Friday and Third Degree Birnz will play on Saturday. The cabarets serve as a fundraiser for the Strippers' work in the community.
The next edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
