Wilfred Alexander Bennett, 1933~2016
Wilfred “Fred” Alexander Bennett, age 82 years, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 17, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Florence Bennett; his wife, Audrey Bennett; sister, Peggy McManus; daughter, Sandra Bennett; niece, Mary Lou Carry and Brad’s significant other, Karen McNeill. Fred was born in Regina, on July 29, 1933. His family moved to Weyburn when he was young and he attended the Assiniboia School and eventually graduated from Weyburn Collegiate. As a young man Fred excelled at sports, particularly hockey, basketball and curling. After graduation Fred married Audrey Linley of Weyburn and they raised four children, Janice, Sandra, Rick and Brad. Early in his adult life Fred began working in the oil industry in a variety of capacities from seismic acquisition to oil field production and operations. Fred retired from Encana in 1993. For several years after that Fred ran River Park for the City of Weyburn and was a great ambassador to campers passing through from all over Canada and the United States. In winter months Fred and Audrey would head to Calgary, AB, or Mexico to spend time with their children and grandchild, Alexander. Fred was devoted to his faith at All Saints Anglican Church in Weyburn.
Audrey Joan Bennett, 1937 ~2016
Audrey Joan Bennett, age 78 years, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Joan Linley; daughter, Sandra Bennett; sister-in-law, Peggy McManus and Brad’s significant other, Karen McNeill. Audrey was the only child of Herman and Joan. She graduated from Weyburn Collegiate and later went on to become a Certified Dental Assistant. Throughout her career she worked for several dental offices in Weyburn and was dedicated to her work. In addition to her professional life Audrey was a dedicated wife to Fred and mother to Janice, Sandy, Rick and Brad. She loved to travel with her husband and together they shared many good times on extended stays in Calgary with their family. Audrey was also a devout member of the Anglican Parish in Weyburn and a member of the choir. Audrey loved to sing.
Sandra Jane Bennett, 1955~2016
Sandra Jane Bennett, age 60 years, passed away on January 23, 2016 in Calgary, AB. Sandra was born to Fred and Audrey Bennett on July 15, 1955. Sandra will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Janice and brothers, Rick and Brad. Sandy graduated from Weyburn Comprehensive and went on to study Fine Arts at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She went on to study at Alberta College of Arts and graduated with distinction. Although Sandra’s passion was painting, she had a long career in the oil industry in facilities piping and design. Health problems resulted in an early retirement from the oil industry but she continued to paint until the end of her life. Sandy’s positive demeanor inspired all people in her life. She will be sadly missed. Fred, Audrey and Sandra will be lovingly remembered by Richard Bennett (Lyne Claveau) of Calgary, AB; Brad Bennett of Weyburn; Janice Bennett of Calgary, AB; Fred’s brother-in-law, Wallace (Ronnie) McManus, nephews, David (Florence) McManus and Garth Carry as well as numerous other relatives and friends. A Celebration of their lives will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm from All Saints Anglican Church, Weyburn, with the Venerable Wilma Woods and Reverend Brian Woods. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. A time of fellowship followed the interment. Donations in their memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
