An end-by-end look at the game between Canada's Brad Jacobs and Sweden's Niklas Edin

10th end: Gallant makes nice runback double to clear out a pair of guards, leaving Canada sitting one touching top of button. Eriksson draws to top 12-foot behind cover. Kennedy clears out two more guards, leaving most of house wide open. Eriksson draws top four foot. Kennedy hits and removes Eriksson’s shot. Edin throws tight centreline guard. Jacobs makes angle raise double to clear out all of Sweden’s rocks. Edin freezes to Jacobs’ shot stone at back of four foot, touching button. Jacobs hits and sticks for one.

Ninth end: Canada sitting shot on button with Sweden having two rocks in four foot on either side of house heading into Jacobs’ first rock. Jacobs takes out one of Sweden’s stones. Edin freezes to his rock on the other side of the 12-foot, Jacobs throws near perfect freeze to sit first and second shot, Sweden third and fourth shot, heading into Edin’s final stone. Edin throws big weight and gets double to score pair.

Eighth end: Things looking a little rough for Canada on Kennedy’s final shot, with runback hit clearing out a couple but leaving Sweden still counting one behind cover touching top of button and Canada sitting second shot back of four foot. Jacobs clears out guards with first shot. Edin takes out Canada’s rock in four foot to lay two in four wide open. Jacobs goes for hit for one with final shot and pulls off the precision shot. Canada scores one.

Seventh end: Jacobs hits Sweden shot rock in eight foot with final shot to lay two in back of eight and 12-foot, Sweden also has rock at top of 12 foot. Edin has shot at double with final shot and makes it but can’t hold shooter and rolls out, getting only one.

Sixth end: At skips stones, Sweden sitting shot touching button behind t-line, Canada second shot top four foot and third shot back four foot behind Sweden counter. Edin freezes to Canada front rock. Jacobs gets nice angle raise takeout on Edin’s first to sit third shot. Edin throws centre guard just off 12-foot. Jacobs tries touch runback to score one and makes it. Canada scores one.

Fifth end: Kennedy at it again, gets buzz from crowd after nice takeout with first stone, Canada laying three lined up behind cover along 12-foot. Eriksson takes out one Canada stone to sit second shot. Kennedy tries runback to pick that stone out but hits one of Canada’s instead. Eriksson freezes down to Canada stone in eight foot, Sweden also has freeze on Canada stone touching top eight foot. Jacobs hits and freezes to Sweden stone touching four foot. Edin tries to tap out Jacobs frozen shot rock but can’t make it, Canada sitting shot full four. Jacobs draws perfectly to touch four foot next to own counter. Edin tries angle raise takeout and gets one before rolling to button. Sweden takes one. Great end by Canada.

Fourth end: Mostly clean end up to skips stones. Kennedy continues to play well, with perfect hit and roll behind cover with last shot to sit one touching top of button. Edin comes around and taps back, Canada sitting shot touching button behind cover, Sweden second shot top four foot wide open. Jacobs hits Sweden stone at top four foot and rolls behind half cover touching top four foot. Edin tries runback double but comes up thin on guard and gets nothing. Jacobs wide open draw for three, no problemo. Canada scores three.

Third end: Kennedy hits and sticks with first shot, Canada lays two at top eight foot behind guard and open in 12-foot. Eriksson hits and sticks to sit shot rock at top eight foot. Kennedy hits and rolls behind cover full 12-foot. Eriksson tries run-back double, just skirts guard and hits one, thank you sweepers. Jacobs makes exact same shot with first, Canada sits two top and back 12 -foot. Edin draws full top four-foot behind cover. Jacobs hits and sticks to sit in four foot and lay three. Edin hits and sticks to touch four foot and take one. Canada gets force.

Second end: Gallant makes nice double to get rid of two Sweden counters and sit one. End progresses, Kennedy hits Sweden rock in eight foot and rolls behind cover in 12-foot. Eriksson attempts freeze and comes in just inside to sit back 12-foot. Kennedy hits, Canada sits two back of four foot. Edin hits and sticks to sit full eight foot, Canada second shot. Jacobs hits, rolls behind long centre guard to sit in eight foot behind t-line. Edin hits with final rock, sits partially open touching four foot. Jacobs hits and sticks for two.

First end: Canada hammer. Canada laying two, one side of four foot above t-line, other back 12 foot at Edin’s first shot. Edin hits counter in four foot and rolls perfectly behind cover at top of four foot. Jacobs taps back, Sweden laying one touching four foot, Canada one in eight foot, both wide open. Edin hits Canada stone and sticks to lay two touching four foot. Jacobs has hit for one but rolls inch too far. Steal for Sweden.

Back at it for Draw 9 on Day 4, and we have another huge game as Canada faces defending champion Niklas Edin of Sweden in a meeting of two one-loss teams. Sweden is currently in a four-way tie for first with a 4-1 record, Canada is 3-1.
