MOOSE JAW — The Christmas season is fast approaching and, with it, all the magic of the holidays. To continue a long-held tradition, the Moose Jaw Express is announcing the launch of this year’s Salvation Army Stocking Fund campaign.
This year’s campaign begins on Nov. 27 and runs until the end of the year to help the Salvation Army welcome the new year with confidence.
The goal for this year’s stocking campaign is to raise $10,000 and the Moose Jaw Express is once again challenging the community to demonstrate the generosity that Moose Jaw is well known for.
“We have never charged for our paper and I would ask that, in appreciation for the free weekly paper that we deliver to your homes, you might consider donating something to the Salvation Army. That would help the Salvation Army and the community, especially at this time of the year,” announced Rob Ritchie, publisher of the Moose Jaw Express in an earlier statement.
The yearly stocking fund raises money for the good works done by the Salvation Army and, as a local non-profit organization with ongoing community involvement throughout the year, there’s always a need for a little additional support.
To participate, residents can bring a cheque or cash donation to the Moose Jaw Express office or phone in a donation with a credit card. All donations go to the Salvation Army. Each donation is documented and the Salvation Army will issue charitable tax receipts to each donor who requests one. .
One hundred per cent of proceeds collected by the Express will be forwarded to the Salvation Army.
The Moose Jaw Express office is located at 468 High Street West and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. For more information or to inquire about donations, call 306-694-1322.
Editor's note: To clarify, this edition of the Moose Jaw Express paper incorrectly states that the goal for this year's campaign is to raise $15,000 — which was meant to read "$10,000" as is stated here.
