"Canada's fuel market remains relatively stable for now, despite ongoing selling pressure in oil markets. However, with President Trump imposing tariffs on Canadian and Mexican energy, some regions may start to see gas prices creep higher," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "Trump's new trade war has already sparked retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods, raising concerns about further economic strain. While, on paper, U.S. tariffs on Canadian energy could have significant repercussions, a prolonged trade war could weaken global economies, reducing demand and partially offsetting the impact. For now, any effects on fuel prices in Canada are likely to be gradual and modest, though regions that rely on U.S. refined fuel imports — such as Eastern Canada — may see some price fluctuations in the weeks ahead."
