Prairie Valley School Division serves approximately 8,900 students in 39 schools throughout southeast Saskatchewan.

REGINA — Janet Kotylak has been re-elected chair of the Prairie Valley School Division Board of Education. She was re-elected by acclamation at the annual Organizational Board meeting.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Prairie Valley School Division as board chair and I would like to thank returning and new board members for their support,” Kotylak said. “Our board is excited for the upcoming term and the new perspectives and new ideas that will continue to move our school division forward.”

Kotylak was first elected to the Prairie Valley Board of Education in 2005 and has served as board chair since 2012. She continues to serve on numerous provincial committees, bringing Prairie Valley’s perspective to a wide range of education topics. Kotylak says she strongly believes in the importance of the board’s role to ensure Prairie Valley communities have a voice in decisions about public education.

“The board is committed to the priorities in our 2024-25 strategic plan, which include emphasizing engagement with families and school communities, growing relationships with education partners and advocating for increased funding for Prairie Valley School Division,” Kotylak said.

“These strategic priorities are critical for us to ensure all students have the opportunity to be successful in learning and life.”

Terry Berglund will serve as vice-chair of the Prairie Valley Board of Education. She was re-elected to the role by acclamation at Wednesday’s meeting. She has been a Prairie Valley board member since 2014 and has served as vice-chair since 2023.

Kotylak and Berglund’s terms are scheduled to run until November 2025.
