Update: Serious crash on Broad Street sends man to hospital

Bystanders help in fiery aftermath.

Regina Police Service attended a multiple-vehicle accident on Broad Street and Fourth Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. yesterday.

REGINA — Update: A male has been charged following a motor vehicle collision that resulted in serious injuries for a 64-year-old male on Thursday evening.

Arriving at Broad Street and 4th Avenue for a collision involving multiple vehicles, police and EMS provided assistance to the victim, identified as an adult male, who was then transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Initial investigations indicated that the suspect had collided with the victim before colliding with two other vehicles stopped at the intersection and fled the scene on foot.

Shortly after, the suspect was located inside of a business on the 1000 block of Broad Street and arrested.

Through Investigation, it was also learned that prior to this collision, there was a hit and run by the same suspect that occurred at the intersection of Albert Street and 1st Avenue.

As a result of this investigation, a 39-year-old Regina man is charged with:

  • failure to stop after accident;
  • dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm;
  • assault of a peace officer;
  • three counts of attempted theft of a motor vehicle; and
  • assault.

A 64-year-old man was seriously injured and transported to Regina General Hospital following the accident.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Bystanders captured the wild scene with many clips making their way to social media yesterday.

One individual can be seen fleeing the scene and going into a nearby car dealership while being pursued by police.

In another clip a car can be seen on fire in the street, while people helped pull an unconscious man from another vehicle. A bloodied man can be seen being led away by police while in handcuffs at the end of another video

Regina Police are currently investigating, with charges pending.
