Suspect facing murder charge in death of Leslie Whitebear

REGINA - The Regina Police Service are reporting that a 27-year-old suspect wanted in relation to the 2022 death of Leslie Victor John Whitebear is now in custody.

Amiir Abdullahi Hussen was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service at 1 p.m., Feb. 13, 2025, in Edmonton.

Hussen is charged in relation to the homicide, which occurred on March 15, 2022, in the 100 Block of Davidson Crescent. Initial information indicated there was an injured, unresponsive male lying outside a residence. Police and EMS attended and located an adult male who had sustained a critical injury. The male was transported to hospital but succumbed to the injury. Officers secured the area and requested the additional resources of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification units, as well as the Coroner. The victim was identified as Whitebear, 27, of Regina.

As a result of the investigation by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, Hussen is charged with second-degree murder.

Hussen remains in custody in Edmonton and will be returned to Regina in the coming days to make his first appearance on this charge. As of right now, no court date has been set.
