If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Most of Saskatchewan is under an extreme cold warning.

SASKATCHEWAN – Environment Canada says a prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected and it is issued an extreme cold warning for most of the province.

A multi-day extreme cold event began overnight Sunday. Overnight low temperatures near minus 30 with winds up to 15 km/h produced extremely cold wind chill values nearing -45 tonight. Wind chills will moderate slightly during the day, but will return to extreme values Monday night to southeastern portions of the province.

Further north, temperatures are expected to moderate by Monday afternoon.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
