SOUTHWEST - Update: The severe thunderstorm warning has been cancelled.
Original post: The R.M. of Newcombe including Glidden and Madison and the R.M. of Snipe Lake including Eston and Plato have been chosen by Mother Nature for the season's first major thunderstorm.
Environment Canada put both areas under a severe thunderstorm warning Tuesday evening just before 6 p.m.
The local forecast is for mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers Tuesday evening and after midnight, clearing before morning. The forecast indicates the risk of a severe thunderstorm early in the evening.
Environment Canada reminds us that large hail can damage property and cause injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
