Joshua Bryden and his University of Regina team are representing Canada at the FISU World University Winter Games in Torino Italy.

The University of Regina’s Joshua Bryden is 2-0 in the men’s curling competition at the FISU World University Winter Games in Torino, Italy.

Bryden’s foursome scored a second consecutive win at the event on Thursday afternoon, recording a 6-2 victory over China.

Bryden’s team found draw weight early in the contest, earning the last shot advantage in the opening end thanks to beating China in the draw to the button by over a metre.

The teams blanked the opening end before the Chinese forced Bryden to take a point in the second end. In the third end, Canada put pressure on team China, causing a miss and allowing Bryden to steal a point for a 2-0 lead.

The teams exchanged points with the hammer in the fourth, fifth, and sixth ends, giving Canada a 3-2 lead and entering the seventh end. Canada went on the attack in that second-last end, setting up the end nicely, which allowed them to count three.

Bryden would run China out of rocks in the eighth end for the 6-3 win.

Canada is off until Friday when the Red and White play the host Italians and Sweden.
